Terms

The deal, in plain language. When you check “I agree to the terms” at checkout, these are the terms. They're our test-run terms: a lawyer reviews them before we open to everyone, and we'll tell you if anything changes for a project you've started.

Who you're working with

Quiet Marks is a service of Dark Thirty Labs LLC, a California company run by Viktor Engborg. “We” means Dark Thirty Labs LLC, doing business as Quiet Marks; “you” means the person or company buying the project.

What you're buying

A logo for your company: sketches drawn by our sketch engine for you to choose from, then the mark you choose drawn by hand by a designer, with the brand book and files that come with your kit. What each kit and add-on includes is listed on the pricing and shown again at checkout.

Payment

  • Prices are fixed and paid in full, upfront, at checkout. Add-ons bought later are paid before that work starts.
  • Prices depend on your company's stage, which you tell us. Companies that have raised $2M or more, or have 25 or more people, pay 2× the listed price.
  • If you buy at the standard price and your company raises a priced Series A within five years of your order, you pay the difference to the Venture price. That's the only invoice we ever send.
  • During the test run, payments are test payments and nothing is charged.

How the project runs

  • The work is asynchronous: no calls. You brief us through the site, and we present through a private page with a walkthrough.
  • Once you've chosen a version, your mark is drawn by hand within 2 working days. Each refinement round comes back within 2 working days of your notes.
  • One person, your decision-maker, gives the answer for each round. We ask for it within 5 working days of each presentation, so projects don't stall.
  • Your kit includes the refinement rounds listed for it. Extra rounds can be bought as an add-on.

Refunds and our guarantee

  • You can cancel for a full refund until your first sketches arrive. After that, the work has started and payments aren't refundable.
  • If none of the sketches fit, ask for a fresh deck: up to three decks in all, free.
  • If the final mark misses, we redraw it from another of your versions, once, at no charge.

Who owns what

  • Your mark is yours alone. The final mark, and anything made from it, is never sold, licensed or reused by us. Ownership passes to you when it's delivered.
  • You're free to register it as a trademark. We can't guarantee a registration (that depends on the trademark office and existing marks), so we recommend a search by an attorney before you file.
  • Until delivery, what we show you is for reviewing only. If a project is refunded or cancelled, no rights pass in anything shown.
  • Sketches you don't choose stay ours. Any made from your name or initials are retired and never reused. Abstract ones may return to our library only after substantial rework.
  • We may show your mark in our portfolio only after you've launched it, and only with your OK.
  • Typefaces used to set your name are open-source; their licenses come with your files.

What you tell us

You confirm that what you give us (your company name, website, existing logo and notes) is yours to share, and you tell us your company's stage honestly. How we handle your information is in our privacy policy.

Limits

We do the work with care and on time. If something goes wrong on our side, the most we owe you is what you paid for the project. We're not liable for indirect losses, like lost profits.
